Hey there. I work as a full time camera operator in Los Angeles in tv amd film and have been looking for a diy motion control to improve my time-lapses. Ive searched for a while and found the MX2 to be the best controller I've seen. Especially because i dont need to lug around my lap top. My job consists of a mixture in camera format so I'm looking for a rig that is kinda versatile between a large beta style camera like the one here http://www.zacuto-rentals.com/sonyf900.htm and a canon SLR. Also I shoot in real time and interval so I need a rig that can support both.
My idea is to have one dolly rig with a pan head on it. One motor to pull my home made ladder dolly with a large camera or an slr on it in real time and in interval. I travel a lot for work so the ladder dolly works well for me. I would love to buy Stage zero but I already have the dolly and track. What motor should I use? Dc or a stepper? And what would the needed torque be? And then I would eventually want to make the head pan. Can the MX2 control two motors? There's a lot of questions, but I'm fairly new to electronics and motion control. Hope you can help me out. Thanks

I was looking at this http://www.servocity.com/html/dayton_gear_motors__12v_.html
The 8.75 Rpm. How does this motor plug into the 2.5x 5.5mm jack? Do u need to splice the cable and put te appropriate end on?
I believe that motor comes
I believe that motor comes with bare leads. So yes you will need to get a 5.5x2.5 jack to add onto it.
Thanks. I'll look into it
