Hi!
I bought the DollyShield: DIY Kit( dinamic perception ) and I've just soldered it.
I think that it's been correctly soldered but it doesn't work. There's no problem when I upload the software to Arduino but the screen doesn't work, it only lights when it's backwards.
I don't know if there's a problem when I upload the software to Arduino or if there's another kind of problem.
It would be very useful if someone could help me.
Thanks.

Costa, What do you mean, "it
Costa,
What do you mean, "it only lights when it's backwards"?
Generally, the LCD not working implies that there's a cold solder joint somewhere on it. If the LCD LED is not being lit, it could be a cold joint or the LED transistor soldered on backwards. Photos will help tremendously.
If the firmware uploads correctly, then the problem will likely be with something about how the LCD was soldered up.

Hi, read again the final
Hi,
read again the final section of DollyShield DIY Kit Soldering Instructions:
"You will need to adjust the LCD contrast using the CADJ trim pot installed on the bottom of the board. Turn it until the LCD characters are easily readable. Now, test each button, left, right, up, down, and center. Then, turn the program on and ensure the LED lights up. Now you may test with your actual motors and camera."
It helped in my case (after a week spent on the repair of the cold solder points which were not).

Hi Ludek, He didn't post back
Hi Ludek,
He didn't post back here, but his issue was that he hadn't soldered on the LCD at all (really cold joints =), and was saying that the backlight LCD only lit up when he literally plugged the LCD in backwards.
The CADJ issue will result in no characters on the screen, a non-functional LCD backlight is more intriguing issue, there are only a few causes: bad arduino PWM pin, bad transistor, bad resistor, or bad joint.

Hi,
for me the display PCB assembly shone so brightly that it was not seeing any signs, any place after them, nor pol designed for them (rectangles), so I thought that our cases are similar. I am very surprised I was with Control CADJ helped, because I repeat again: there were no characters can be seen, only the illuminated LCD without any sign of something still hidden there. What, unfortunately, does not mean that this what above, Costa launch LCD.

Ludek, As a term, contrast is
Ludek,
As a term, contrast is loosely defined as the difference in brightness between two subjects. In this case, the subject being the LCD panel and the characters displayed on them. With "no contrast" (CADJ adjusted all the way backwards) there is -no difference- in the brightness of the characters and the LCD panel. Hence, nothing appears to be displayed.

Hi,
I agree. That lack of contrast, you called it perfectly. Besides, I think that Costa performs its already long time lapse laughing with his "fault" LCD. :)
