DIY Dolly with MX2, Problem at low speeds and Calibrating.

Posted in

Hi there,
i'm from germany, so my english maybe a little ugly.

I built a slider (belt-driven) with an engine from modelcraft.
Unfortunately they draw 2.1A at full load.

At high speed everything works just fine with the MX2. But at low speeds the motor just makes some noise but doesn't move.
Also calibrating the system in step 3 and 4 is not possible. It just doesn't moves an inch.
What may i do? Is the problem the 2.1 A?

Please help..

Hi there! Yes, 2.1A at full

Hi there!
Yes, 2.1A at full load is a major problem - it is more than twice what is supported per motor port.  If you were to run a full load, or near it, you would draw too much power and damage the MX2.

You need to adjust the min pulse (you can set it up to 255) if your motor doesn't want to move in the slowest continuous speeds.  It may need to be activated for longer to build up enough torque to move, and this setting lets you adjust that.  Settings->Axis x->Min Pulse to change this.

After the motor wants to move, you can then try to calibrate again.  If it moves too slowly, adjust your calibration target speeds higher: Settings -> Cal. Spd Low/Hi

That being said, need to keep the motor at or under 1A at full-load.
