Future OpenMoCo controller??

I thought of that too. Why

I thought of that too. Why not use an iPhone or iPad? These things have tilt sensors for real time motor control. Wireless communication to the TLE (Wifi of Bluetooth) also sounds great. 200$ is not much compared to what my TouchShield Slide controller is costing me. Linux of Chromium is also more open than the TouchShield. I guess I am the only one who has ever installed the OpenMoco UI on it :-).

Think about doing a shoot and

Think about doing a shoot and getting a call (normal occurrence). I don't want to wonder if I'm going to accidentally screw up my shot by answering the phone/user error. iPad sure but @ $500 and total big brother apps application process... Doesn't make much sense to me.

True. I am a big Apple fan,

True. I am a big Apple fan, but their big brother app store is not really compatible with open source.

The tablet would be an option though.

I, personally, will do no

I, personally, will do no development for a closed platform like iOS. Others may be welcome to, but I believe in truly open systems =)

I think the ARM-based tablets are pretty rocking. I heard of some of them being sold cheap at K-Mart and Wal-Mart recently (below $200), but I can't verify that. The nice thing about having a linux-based platform is that it's very easy as a dev platform, and completely open.

Here's another option, it's based on the OMAP processor, and the beagleboard design, but has a neat feature to convert between a netbook and a tablet by removing the screen from the device: http://www.alwaysinnovating.com/home/index.htm Since it's based on the beagleboard, I'm wondering if it retains the extra GPIO pinouts?

... I don't know why, but this video cracks me right up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B0ufymAvjDM

Maybe we should finish the

Maybe we should finish the Slide controller first :-).

Oh, no worries - I'm not

Oh, no worries - I'm not buying any new hardware any time soon =)

I know. You still have to

I know. You still have to test the one you are have right now :-).
