Becoming a contributing member

Hello to our new users, I'd like to extend a warm welcome and invite you to contribute to the site.

In contribution, I mean not only for software developers, but for those that are interested in adding content such as: articles about systems they've tried, information about shooting time-lapse in general, how-to articles, and DIY guides.

If you'd like to become a contributing member to the website, just let me know what kind of content you're interested in producing, and I will enable the capability for your account.

All I ask if that you add the appropriate content type (news, article, how-to, diy, or any combination of the above) to your articles.

Help in cleaning up and formatting existing content is always appreciated as well.

Simply leave a response here, and I will enable your ability to add pages.

Thanks!

Watching with interest

I'm not a programmer, but I am excited about the potential of this project. I will be watching closely, hoping for a GUI for OSX and Nikon D-series camera.

Best regards,
Gary

Any ideas about a mac version of the moco software

Hi there, just recieved my new meade telescopic mount. Very excited about it. Just curious if you are developing any mac software that will work with the meade controller? Looking forward to doing some more time lapse with it. Do you guys post your timelapse on this site? If I want to share some as well, Where should I post them? Thanks for all your information! This is very exciting!
Cheers
Jules

Timelapse sharing

Jules,

For sharing timelapse videos, right now we don't have any facilities set up here. Most of us are on the timescapes forum over at timescapes.org. There's a video section with a lot of great work, and you'll find it a wonderful community for the discussion of timelapse videos, etc.

Over time, we'll work on getting a mechanism up here for sharing. Right now, I think everyone is furiously working on their designs and/or software. (I know I am, heh.)

As for a mac version of the meade software from Milapse, I haven't heard of any plans in the works. It would be nice to have someone do a version for the mac, unfortunately, it would have to be a complete re-write.

I would love to contribute with something.

I don't have much experience with programming, but do have a bit experience with mechanics.
Been looking for a program like this, so I can not begin to say how exited it made me to find this site. I am not sure if you are aware of it or not but there is a site that develops a open-source program for panoramic heads. Link: http://www.papywizard.org/wiki/WikiStart .
And from what little I can understand, it should not be very hard to combine the two type of programs into one software doing both.

I have recently bought a arduino with the Atmel 328 chip, and I've also bought this thing: http://cgi.ebay.com/MINI2440-S3C2440-ARM9-Development-Board-3-5-TOUCH-SKU03_W0QQitemZ330350041819QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Electrical_Equipment_Tools?hash=item4cea659adb&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14#ht_3886wt_1124
I really have high hopes for this one.

Then my end goal is to finish a system similar to this; http://dr-clauss.de/VRhead_EN.htm before X-mas.

As Gary, I am so looking forward to a GUI, I can hardly wait.

Thank you so much for all the hard work you guys are putting into this.
I promise that I will always include you in the end credits of every film ;-)

Keep it up.

Cheers

Kuper veteran

Hi,

I'm a Director of Photography in live action and visual effects.

With extensive experience in motion control over the last few decades I hope I can bring some ideas to the table. I have worked with many different systems, but for the past 19 years mostly with Kuper, and I notice this is not listed. There is a more streamlined version being developed that could potentially interface with much smaller, simpler (and less expensive) systems.

I would like to post updates as they happen, along with hardware availability from people like Steve Switaj in Austin, Tx, and Joe Lewis in Los Angeles, Ca.

Hope I can be of help,

Les Bernstien

Hi Frederick and Les - I will

Hi Frederick and Les - I will add you the ability to create content. Les, I wasn't familiar with Kuper before, but it appears to be closed-source? I would love to see any contributions, but if they are only announcements about closed-source products, they will not fit with the general model of OpenMoco.

However, if you wish to provide open-source designs and software based on Kuper, I'd love to have that information here! Also, I'm sure that you can provide much useful information, with your experience, to the DIY systems builder (which is our focus).

open source and kuper

I know that Kuper (and I believe other systems like mrmoco) are closed source, but changes are being worked into newer systems that will "open it up," like the ability to use Maya as a front-end, as well as simpler, more user-friendly access. I believe changes like this are essential to its survival.

Beyond software, I would like to post available hardware options coming from the "high-end" that can work in DIY circles. Again, I think this is essential for motion control's survival.

Excellent Les, I look forward
